Massive Attack es una banda que conocí hace no muchos años y que día a día lentamente se ha ganado un respeto de mi parte por la calidad musical y por sus letras profundas que tocan lo más profundo de una persona sensibilizada por el mundo que lo rodea y que no admite el empelotudamiento de la TV como Soma para vivir.
El tema "False Flags" remite a las operaciones de bandera falsa.
Según la Wikipedia,
Las operaciones de bandera falsa son operaciones encubiertas conducidas por gobiernos, corporaciones y otras organizaciones, diseñadas para aparecer como si fueran llevadas a cabo por otras entidades.
El nombre se deriva del concepto militar de izar colores falsos; esto quiere decir la bandera de un país diferente al propio. Los ataques terroristas en algunas ocasiones son operaciones de bandera falsa.
El tema tiene referencias a distintos disturbios (riots) como por ejemplo los que ocurrieron en Francia, protagonizados por parisinos de origen árabe comparandolos con el mayo francés de 1968 dónde la juventud francesa se reveló en contra del autoritarismo. ("parisian boys without your names, riot like 1968 again")
También hace referencias a los "atentados" del 9/11 en New York, dónde el gobierno norteamericano armó todo para hacer creer que habían sido terroristas y así justificar su ataque a medio oriente, montando así una operación de bandera falsa. ("you bleed your wings and then disappear", "battle lines are drawn across this town", "hearts and minds and u.s. planes")
En fin...un temazo musicalmente, un video impresionante dónde se observa un tipo arrojando una bomba Molotov y observen los últimos 20 segundos del video y miren que es lo que realmente se quema...(hint: "False FLAGS")

Collarbone
Cortita: los ingleses son los que mejor música han hecho, hacen y harán en la historia de la música mundial. Fujiya & Miyagi es una banda relativamente nueva, formados en Brighton en 2000. Ellos se autocalifican como altamente influenciados por el género Krautrock.
El nombre de la banda proviene de una marca de reproductor de discos y del maestro de Daniel Larusso en "Karate Kid" (el Sr. Miyagi, Pat Morita)
Tienen dos discos: "Transparent Things" de 2006 y a fines de 2008 sacaron otro: "Lightbulbs".

Street Spirit (Fade Out)
Luego de un zarpado recital en Buenos Aires, Radiohead queda dando vueltas en mi vida...un show soñado, perfecto, viendolo a 10 mts del escenario, con Thom Yorke en primer plano, así también como los zarpados violeros/toca todo que tiene a su lado...
Sencillamente sensacional el momento que se creó con temas como Paranoid Android, Creep o este temita que vamos a poner ahora acá: Street Spirit (Fade Out).
Radiohead es una banda que le tenés que tener paciencia, salvo excepciones no suelen ser temas con un estribillo pegadizo (y comercial) que te van a quedar rondando en la cabeza sino más bien se te van a ir metiendo de a poquito hasta que adores la melancolía y profundidad tanto lírica como musical de los temas.
Una de las excepciones a esa regla de no-riffs pegadizos es este temita...desde el minuto cero ya te invita a flashear miles de cosas y el video es sencillamente genial. Ahi vá:

Sencillamente sensacional el momento que se creó con temas como Paranoid Android, Creep o este temita que vamos a poner ahora acá: Street Spirit (Fade Out).

The Wrens are an indie rock band that formed in the late 1980s in New Jersey. Their debut album Silver was released in 1994. The band was plagued by label problems throughout the rest of the 1990s, leaving them unable to release an album for many years after Secaucus in 1996. The band's third offering, The Meadowlands, finally surfaced in late 2003. Following a gig at University of London Union in London in March 2006, The Guardian declared: "On this form the Wrens are surely one of the best live bands in the world."

Eighties
Killing Joke son una banda de rock post punk inglesa formada en 1978 en Notting Hill, Londres.
Con un éxito comercial modesto, Killing Joke ha influenciado a muchas bandas posteriores como Nirvana, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Napalm Death, Tool, Prong, Metallica, Primus, Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Faith No More, Korn, etc.
Hasta el día de hoy tienen actividad y son una banda muy interesante para escuchar ya que en su discografía han pasado por distintos estilos: rock industrial, doom, gloom, incorporando elementos de música dance, rock gótico, metal, etc.
El tema que acerco de la banda es peculiar porque la banda reclamó que Nirvana reconozca que Kurt Cobain había "tomado prestado" el riff del tema "Eighties" para crear "Come As You Are". Como la banda reconoció abiertamente que habían tomado el riff, la banda dejó de lado el litigio pero hace muy poco, Dave Grohl (antaño batero de Nirvana, ahora front man de Foo Fighters) decidió compensar a "Killing Jokes" por el robo y le grabó la batería de su anteultimo disco de 2003 Killing Jokes (este es el segundo disco de la banda que se titula igual que su nombre, el primero fue en 1980)

Dieciocho
Una banda que estoy escuchando ahora, de un disco que ya tiene 3 años pero que no le había dado mucha bola antes...Gil Solá toca la bata y canta y suele tener temas en inglés (pasó su adolescencia en USA) y en castellano, muy copado...
Federico Gil Solá fue el segundo baterista de Divididos, entre 1990 y 1995.
Luego de su alejamiento, permaneció casi siete años trabajando en su estudio de Hurlingham, y dio forma a "Leaving las vergas", su álbum debut (2001), en el cual también participaron Celeste Carballo, Palo Pandolfo y Pablo Guerra.
Abandonando el formato solista y junto a Gustavo Bustos (guitarra) y Sebastián Villegas (bajo), bajo la denominación "Gil Solá & Exiliados", editó "La suerte y la palabra" (2005).
De este disco les traigo el tema "Dieciocho", un cover en castellano del tema "Eighteen" de Alice Cooper... muy interesante...enjoy!

First It Giveth
...then it taketh away....
Otra canción de Queens of the Stone Age, una banda a la que he desempolvado y estoy en mi época de fanático de nuevo...
La traducción del título sería:
"Primero dió", es un inglés muy antiguo y en desuso ("giveth", "taketh"), creo que la frase viene de la biblia...
En fin, no ando muy inspirado para redactar, mejor echarle un vistazo al video, con la letruzca a mano y prestar atención al estribillo que tiene un parte de mucha bata de la buena (algunos lo hacen con doble pedal, otros no...)
luego de escuchar el temete, no se pierdan el cover de batería del tema que dos pibes subieron a YouTube. El primero le da sin doble pedal a una velocidad envidiable y el segundo le da al doble pedal que da miedo...otra forma de analizar un temita, desde mi punto de vista más que humilde e ignorante...que les aPTzca...
