Faith No More - As The Worms Turn

Volví! (y en forma de fichas!)...sí, volví a postear algo acá después de dos años y algo más, sólo con el objetivo de poner la letra de un temazo de Faith No More que muestra a las claras lo que era la juventud norteamericana de los años 90...tiempos gloriosos que no volverán...

Antes de pegar info sobre el tema en cuestión, al que esté leyendo esto...HACETE UN FAVOR A VOS MISMO Y ESCUCHÁ Faith No More...podés empezar con el grandes éxitos y después bajarte o comprarte todos los discos, también su cantante todo poderoso - Mike Patton - es digno de seguirlo: Fantomas y él como solista son experiencias completamente renovadoras que te liberarán del suplicio de seguir la mediocridad comercial o "barrial" que hoy pulula por los top 40 o medios pseudo rockeros como en Argentina, la "Rock & Pop"...

Este tema tiene (al menos) dos versiones: una pre-Mike Patton con el cantante anterior que se llamaba Chuck Mosley la cuál está muy buena porque tiene una intro de piano impresionante y otra ya con Patton como cantante que es un poco más dura y tiene su estilo impregnado. Veamos:

A modo de bonus, y como a este tipo hay que verlo en acción, dejo un video del año 1990 con Patton haciendo sus primeros conciertos como vocalista de FNM y otro de 2010 en la reunión del grupo cómo el mismo tipo ahora tiene influencias de cantantes italianos (vivió 8 años en Bologna con su ex-mujer italiana y aprendió italiano...de hecho ahora sacó un disco como solista llamado "Mondo Cane" con todas canciones de los 50...muy pero muy bueno...) etc...

Already Died

Esta banda la conocí hace poco y me cautivó los sentidos. Muchos imberbes musicales podrán decir que suenan parecido a los Stones, pero eso no me extrañaría...se trata de gente que va a ver a AC/DC "porque está de moda" cuando nunca escucharon The Razors Edge.

Según la Whiskypedia,
Eagles of Death Metal es una banda yankee de rock de garage oriunda de Palm Desert, California, formada en 1998 por Jesse Hughes y Josh Homme. A pesar de su nombre, Eagles of Death Metal no es una banda de death metal. Hughes dijo que un amigo estaba tratando de introducir a Josh Homme al género músical death metal. Cuando él tocó con la banda polaca de death metal Vader, Homme los llamó "The Eagles of death metal". Después de oír esta frase, el se preguntó como sonaría la cruza entre águilas y una banda de death metal. En una entrevista en 2003, Homme describió el sonido de la banda como una combinación de "bluegrass slide guitar mezclado con golpes de tambor stripper y Canned Heat vocals." Jesse Hughes es conocido y amado por sus fans por su entusiasta y caristmática interacción con el público en los conciertos en vivo.

El batero de esta banda es Josh Homme, ex Kyuss, cantante y violero de Queens of the Stone Age y de la nueva superbanda Them Crooked Vultures. Han tenido colaboraciones de Jack Black, Dave Grohl (ahora compañero de Homme en Them Crooked Vultures) entre otros, de hecho, en el video que pongo abajo, aparecen ambos con pelucas, muy gracioso...

Bien, ahora a lo que nos incumbe: hacerte escuchar un tema de la ostia y mediante él abrirte las puertas a una banda que quizás no junabas mucho y/o no le habías dado pelota...y por que no tambien...abrirte las puertas a escuchar otras cosas distintas a lo que el mainstream quiere pasarte...
Les recomiendo darle play al tema siguiente y de última seguir haciendo otra cosa pero con el temita en PLAY. Si es posible, con auriculares que pega más y si no es mucho pedir señor/a....fumese uno y escuche el tema...dicen que pega más....¿yo? no se!...soy caníbal, no fumón...:-D

Little Sister

Bueno, si mirás las anteriores entradas de este humilde blog, no queda duda que soy un gran fan de Queens of the Stone Age. Este tema habla de un flaco que directamente se garcha a su hermana menor. Muy enfermizo y con un sonido espectacular como nos tiene acostumbrados esta TREMENDA banda.

"Little Sister" fue el primer single lanzado por Queens of the Stone Age de su cuarto album Lullabies to Paralyze. La canción fue grabada en vivo en el estudio en una sola toma.
Hubo una versión preliminar grabada con Dave Grohl en 2002 para el album Songs for the Deaf, pero fue desechada. Según Josh Homme, la canción fue inspirada por la especie de "giro sexual" de Doc Pomus de mismo nombre, probablemente más conocida por la grabación de Elvis Presley.

Cuando QOTSA tocaron esta canción en Saturday Night Live el 14 de Mayo de 2005, el actor/comediante Will Ferrell, que era el presentador del show ese día, subió al escenario y tocó el cencerro (cowbell) como el miembro ficticio de Blue Öyster Cult, Gene Frenkle. Esto fue una repetición del rol que Ferrell compuso en un famoso sketch de SNL en 2000 dónde el actor Christopher Walken demanda más cencerro ("More cowbell!") durante la grabación de estudio del famoso tema de la banda, "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", para el disgusto del resto de la banda. En "Little Sister" el sonido es en realidad hecho con un jam block, instrumento muy parecido al cencerro del sketch.

Como tengo poco tiempo pero muchas ganas de compartir este tema con aquel esquizoide que este leyendo esto, copio y pego info de un blog que encontré por ahí que tiene la misma tónica que este, salvo por el detallecito que está abandonado como los indigentes argentinos con el gobierno de los Kirchner.

Ahi va:
Iron Maiden es una banda británica de heavy metal de Leyton en el East End de Londres. La banda se formó en 1975 por el bajista Steve Harris, un antiguo miembro de Gypsy's Kiss y Smiler. Iron Maiden es una de las más exitosas e influyentes bandas de heavy metal. La banda ganó el Premio Ivor Novello para la consecución en 2002. También se les introdujo en el Hollywood Rock Walk durante su gira por los Estados Unidos en 2005.

Muy interesante visualmente y con una letra que te deja como que no viste solamente sexo y desnudez sino que hay algo más dando vueltas por ahí.....there you go...

False Flags

Massive Attack es una banda que conocí hace no muchos años y que día a día lentamente se ha ganado un respeto de mi parte por la calidad musical y por sus letras profundas que tocan lo más profundo de una persona sensibilizada por el mundo que lo rodea y que no admite el empelotudamiento de la TV como Soma para vivir.
El tema "False Flags" remite a las operaciones de bandera falsa.

Según la Wikipedia,
Las operaciones de bandera falsa son operaciones encubiertas conducidas por gobiernos, corporaciones y otras organizaciones, diseñadas para aparecer como si fueran llevadas a cabo por otras entidades.
El nombre se deriva del concepto militar de izar colores falsos; esto quiere decir la bandera de un país diferente al propio. Los ataques terroristas en algunas ocasiones son operaciones de bandera falsa.

El tema tiene referencias a distintos disturbios (riots) como por ejemplo los que ocurrieron en Francia, protagonizados por parisinos de origen árabe comparandolos con el mayo francés de 1968 dónde la juventud francesa se reveló en contra del autoritarismo. ("parisian boys without your names, riot like 1968 again")

También hace referencias a los "atentados" del 9/11 en New York, dónde el gobierno norteamericano armó todo para hacer creer que habían sido terroristas y así justificar su ataque a medio oriente, montando así una operación de bandera falsa. ("you bleed your wings and then disappear", "battle lines are drawn across this town", "hearts and minds and u.s. planes")

En fin...un temazo musicalmente, un video impresionante dónde se observa un tipo arrojando una bomba Molotov y observen los últimos 20 segundos del video y miren que es lo que realmente se quema...(hint: "False FLAGS")

Collarbone

Cortita: los ingleses son los que mejor música han hecho, hacen y harán en la historia de la música mundial. Fujiya & Miyagi es una banda relativamente nueva, formados en Brighton en 2000. Ellos se autocalifican como altamente influenciados por el género Krautrock.

El nombre de la banda proviene de una marca de reproductor de discos y del maestro de Daniel Larusso en "Karate Kid" (el Sr. Miyagi, Pat Morita)
Tienen dos discos: "Transparent Things" de 2006 y a fines de 2008 sacaron otro: "Lightbulbs".
